About the app
Blackland Labs is a mobile app (iOS & Android) that transportation companies use to onboard and train new drivers. Employees — drivers, trainers, business coordinators, and admins — are invited into their employer's organization account and use the app to track onboarding steps, training tasks, and day-to-day schedule updates.
SMS opt-in consent flow
Every user goes through the same two screens on first login, in this order, before any transactional SMS is ever sent. No account can reach a state where SMS is enabled without explicitly tapping the checkbox and “Enable SMS.” These are unedited screenshots from the current production app.
The consent screen's checkbox is unchecked every time it renders, and shows the full disclosure text inline (not just a link): “I agree to receive transactional SMS reminders and notifications from Blacklands. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for assistance,” alongside links to this site's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Tapping “Not now” declines with no penalty and the screen never re-prompts automatically. A user who taps “Enable SMS” has their consent timestamp and phone number stored server-side and becomes eligible for transactional SMS only from that point on — gate arrival notifications, trainer assignments, start-date reminders, callback requests, and consecutive-workday reminders. Consent can be revoked at any time from in-app Settings, or by replying STOP to any message.
